Team Lighthouse Guild Rides in Bike Tour to Raise Awareness of Eye Health

New York— On Sunday, May 7, Team Lighthouse Guild was among the 32,000 riders participating in the 2023 TD Five Boro Bike Tour. 

Team Lighthouse Guild was comprised of thirty cyclers, including patients, family members, friends, and staff, all riding for one cause— to increase awareness about the importance of eye health. It’s estimated that over five million Americans are blind or visually impaired and millions more are at risk.

Daria Zawadzki, a social worker who is blind, has been affiliated with Lighthouse Guild for 16 years – both receiving services and working with teens in the Youth Tele-Support program. Daria rode a tandem bike with her husband as the guide and her son biking to their side. Daria said, “It was an honor to ride with Team Lighthouse Guild because of the impact its services have on young people who struggle to find community in their schools and environments.” 

Proceeds raised by the team participants will assist in programs providing necessary support services to patients at Lighthouse Guild.

The TD Five Boro Bike Tour is the largest cycling event in the country and one of the most popular athletic events in New York City.
